Dudley murder arrests over 2002 Holland disappearanceTwo people have been arrested in the West Midlands on suspicion of murdering a Polish woman in the Netherlands 10 years ago.
West Midlands Police said they arrested a man aged 39 and a 35-year-old woman, both from Poland, in Dudley on 14 May.
Officers have subsequently been working with Dutch police investigating the disappearance of Paulina Starczewska in 2002.
Dutch police found a woman’s remains at a Landsmeer campsite last week.
They are investigating whether the remains are those of Ms Starczewska.
The man and woman in Dudley were further arrested under the Extradition Act on 19 May, a police spokesman said.
They appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court for extradition proceedings.
Det Insp Derek Packham, of West Midlands CID, said it had been an “unusual and complex inquiry” which had involved Interpol and the Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

“If the remains are indeed confirmed as those of Paulina Starczewska, it will bring closure to a 10-year missing person inquiry and hopefully some comfort to a family which has spent the last decade looking for answers.
“From here forward we will be supporting police in Holland, who have taken the lead in what is now confirmed as a murder inquiry.”
